It’s the Golden Age of Mobile Entertainment
We all know that YouTube and mobile go hand-in-hand nowadays. Gone are the days when you had to run to a computer to see the latest nerdy viral clip or music video. In 2016, the YouTube app makes it incredibly easy for users to tune in and view HD videos and live streams on the go.
Smart TVs and tablets also let you cast YouTube to any screen in your home. The world’s most popular video streaming service now reaches more 18-34 year-olds than any commercial TV channel in the UK. It’s truly the golden age of mobile entertainment!
So it should come as no surprise that more than half of YouTube views come from a mobile device. Seeking out videos on your phone or tablet is becoming the norm, especially as content on YouTube is becoming longer and more varied, including live-events, gaming, movies and TV series on demand.
So how do I get my videos viewed on YouTube?
The answer is optimisation and engagement. You first have to crack the community you want to access (the avid gamers, the style vloggers, the LGBT community) and engage. Comment, share, like and link to your products/services. Don’t spam, engage!
Then optimise your content for mobile. Access those world mobile views by ensuring your thumbnail looks good on a mobile screen and features strong branding. Also come up with a strong clickable call-to-action in your video and make your content device agnostic (operable across various systems) just in case. You may also want to consider adding a landing page where you can embed and promote videos from your own site.
